Paul’s extensive radiological experience has included providing evidence to the Sizewell Public Inquiry, co –ordination of environmental sampling at UK major nuclear sites and responding to the Chernobyl & Fukushima nuclear accidents. His duties as a Nuclear Inspector included work at Sellafield, Springfields, Capenhurst, Bradwell and Greenwich. In 2018, he was the Chairman of the Advisory Group for the Natural Environment Research Council on the TREE Project http://tree.ceh.ac.uk/ . The project looked at the transfer of radionuclide contamination at Chernobyl and the implications for the UK. Paul has also worked with Government policy makers and Nuclear Inspectors at the Office of Nuclear Regulation to help determine best practice during emergencies at UK nuclear sites.

Determination of radiological exposure to the public around UK Nuclear Sites
Major Nuclear sites in the UK are licensed to discharge radionuclides into the environment and in addition to imposing an offsite environmental monitoring programme, a check programme is also undertaken by the regulators. The seminar introduces the way those people who by the nature of their habits are potentially the most exposed & how they help focus an appropriate radiological programme.
